|What is IPV6?|
|IPv6 is short for "Internet Protocol Version 6".
The current Internet Protocol, IP Version 4, is superseded by IPv6
IPv6, developed by IETF (the Internet Engineering Task Force organization that develops Internet technologies) is the new standard. The IETF, anticipating the need for more IP addresses in 1994, created IPv6 to accommodate the growing number of users and devices accessing the Internet. The basic protocol (RFC 2460) was published in 1998. Since then a lot of devices and Operating Systems started to support IPv6.
